darkness within darkness
Video installation, 2019 / Moving Image, 2021
The work divided the digital video into the film ratio of 24-frame-per-second. Through replacing the method of exposing and projecting with the technique of printing and scanning, the work is composed of papers frame-by-frame in between movement and stillness, virtual and concrete, digital and physical. It is a continuous-still-image that derives from the persistence of vision, which can be seen as moving image. During the process of media transformation, the concept of “one body with two sides” is empty yet inexhaustible, hidden but always present. The work darkness within darkness visualizes the abstract natural law and mystic Oriental philosophy through primitive percipience, reliving the time of the image in the digital era where the physical materials are dissipating.
