A Song for Loss

Spatial Installation, 2020
Sponsored by Ministry of Culture, Taiwan

The work is an installation that materializes film. It combines characters, plots, and scenes to form a state where the absence of the artist reveals the nomad condition between family, homeland and the world. Through the fabrication of empty shots and found objects, it builds a still scene to describe an uncertain state of wanting to be recognized. The work alters the image and sound of film into a physical installation and extends time into traversable space, blurring the boundary between props and objects; scenes and spaces; plots and memories. Through exploring the cinematic techniques and the form of art, it aims to deconstruct the essence of things between personal emotions and objective perspectives—handling the weight of regrets.
