On Freedom

Spatial Installation, 2019

The installation consists of a series of works that interweave daily photos with mixed media, presenting the conflicting eagerness for freedom from the perspective of a family. Through shaping and bending images, the work explored the layering of spaces and blurred the boundary between two-dimensional and three-dimensional space. On the other hand, the digital videos were made into film at the rate of 24-frame-per-second, and by printing and scanning the images, the physical existence of the imagery was captured through every dust, wrinkle, and water ripple. Letting the images sit between movement and stillness, virtual and concrete, digital and physical—creating a relationship of contradiction and co-existence—a body made up of freedom and burden.
